At the heart of the Stony Stratford, known as the Jewel of Milton Keynes, is The Old George Hotel. Stony Stratford is today a thriving and beautiful market town only ten minutes away from Milton Keynes, and less than an hour from London by train.

The Old George Hotel is of local historic interest. Built as a posting house in the 16th century, it is one of the oldest surviving inns in the town. In the coaching era Stony Stratford was a transition point, where horses were rested and changed, and where passengers could stay the night and refresh themselves from their journey. Over thirty coaches a day would stop in Stony Stratford in the 19th century, and it has remained an important focus point for travelers ever since.

Naturally all prices include breakfast, and are inclusive of VAT. Prices start at £40 for a single room, to £55 for a double or twin room. Should you require it, an extra child's bed can be placed in parents' rooms for a small charge. The Hotel is non-smoking throughout.

You can have rest and enjoy a selection of teas and coffee all day in The Old George Hotel, and the restaurant offers a superb wine list, as well as beer and non-alcoholic beverages. The restaurant specialises in great home cooked food, and especially in fresh fish.

Replenish yourself with good old-fashioned favorites such as the Roast from the Silver Carving Trolley, sausages with bubble and squeak and onion gravy, or crispy cod and chips. On Sundays you will find an excellent home cooked Sunday Lunch for just £8.75 for 2 courses, which is served in both the restaurant and bar.
